How often will the newsletter be sent?
At most once a month, and only when there is something worth sending, such as a new calculator, a new guide or an explainer on a rate concept. Some months there may be no email at all. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every message.
What would the newsletter contain?
Each issue is short and focused on the site itself. It might announce a new calculator or guide, explain a single rate concept with a worked example, or note a meaningful update to an existing page.
It will not contain rate tables, stock tips or product promotions dressed up as news. If a future issue ever includes a partner offer, it will be clearly labelled as one, just like partner links on the site.
What do we promise subscribers?
- No more than one email a month
- We never sell or rent your email address
- One-click unsubscribe in every message
- Only your email address is needed
- No personal financial advice
- Labelled partner content, if any ever appears
What kinds of explainers would you see?
Why APR and APY differ
How the same rate looks bigger or smaller depending on whether compounding is counted, with numbers you can check.
What a rate change does to a payment
How a change of one percentage point moves a car loan or credit card payoff, worked through step by step.
How a CD ladder works
Why splitting savings across several maturity dates can balance access and return, with a small example.
What happens to your email address?
It is used only to send the newsletter. It is stored with the mailing tool that sends the emails, access is limited to people who need it, and it is never sold or rented. You can unsubscribe with one click or ask the privacy address on our contact page to delete it.
Our privacy policy explains the details, including how long we keep a subscriber's address after they leave.
Frequently asked questions
Is the newsletter free?
Yes. Subscribing costs nothing, and the newsletter never asks for payment. All it needs is an email address. The calculators and guides it points to are free as well. There is no paid tier, and subscribing never gives access to extra content, since everything on the site is already open to everyone.
Will you sell or share my email address?
No. We never sell or rent subscriber addresses. The address is stored with the mailing tool that sends the newsletter on our behalf and is used only to send it. Our privacy policy lists the kinds of service providers involved.
How do I unsubscribe from the newsletter?
Click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any issue. It takes one click, with no login and no reason required. If something goes wrong, email the privacy address on our contact page and we will remove you by hand.
Will the newsletter tell me current interest rates?
No. We do not quote current market rates as facts on the site or in email. Explainers use illustrative rates to show how the math works. For published rate data, see the Federal Reserve and FDIC sources on our resources page.
Can I suggest a topic for a future issue?
Yes, please do. Email the general address on our contact page with the question you would like explained. Reader questions help us decide which explainers and calculators to write next. We cannot answer personal financial questions in the newsletter, but general questions about how a rate or calculation works are ideal topics.
Does the newsletter include advertising?
There is no advertising in it today. If a partner offer is ever included, it will be clearly labelled as a partner offer and kept separate from the editorial content, under the same rules as partner links on the site.
What personal information do I need to give to subscribe?
Only your email address. We do not ask for your name, income, debts or any other details, and nothing you type into a calculator is linked to your subscription. You can unsubscribe at any time with one click, and you can ask the privacy address to delete your address entirely.
Why might I not get an email for a while?
We only send an issue when there is something genuinely new or useful to share, and never more than once a month. If several weeks pass without one, nothing is wrong with your subscription. If you think you are missing issues, check your spam or promotions folder and add our address to your contacts.
